Katie Parla's Rome App Reviews

Downloading this app was one of the first (and best) things I did when I booked my familys trip to Rome. We used Katies app to find nearby restaurants, gelato hotspots, and more. I even took advantage of the exceptional offline maps in the app to avoid having to incur cellular data charges while I was navigating the city streets. I have no reservations recommending the app. It worked like a charm every time with no crashes, hangups, or any other glitches. Kudos to the developer.

Katies reviews are very thorough, and after trying some of her suggestions, realized that they were spot on too. Perhaps the best feature of this app is that the suggestions are based on your location, so its great to use when youre on the move and need a recommendation. Highly recommend this for anyone traveling to Rome.

I had a lot of difficulty moving around the app. Screens would freeze and had to reset the iPad to get out of it. I tried multiple times to use it and was foiled on each occasion. There are smoother Italian dining apps out there. This one is not worth $2.99

We found this app to be absolutely indispensable in Rome!!! There is incredible food in Rome, but you are unlikely to find it by just wandering around looking for someplace that "looks good" With this app whenever we were ready to eat all we had to do was check the map and see which of Katies recommended places we were close to. We had some absolutely unforgettable experiences, from gelato, to pizza, sandwiches a and restaurants based on her recommendations. Interestingly prices for truly excellent food were exactly the same as for the mediocre or poor. I wish there was an app like this for every city!!!

With the ubiquity of sites like yelp and tripadvisor, I thought this app would provide a nice change of pace. Perhaps even shed light on a few "hidden gems" in the city. It didnt. Skip the app, and do your research like everyone else.

I cant say enough good things about this app. I used in weeks ahead in my planning for our trip but the greatest part was when we were out and about, hungry, not wanting to eat in a tourist trap. It not only works offline, it tells you where each restaurant is in relation to your current location. Life-saver! Every place we tried from this app was on our favorites list. Katie is a true foodie and we can all eat better thanks to her!

Excellent app. Terrific recommendations, well organized and with a great map feature. Recommended without hesitation!

On my iPad the maps are small slices at the bottom of the screen - with about 25% of the screen wasted on blank space. In order to locate the part of the city where a restaurant is located, I go to a different map, then come back to Parlas App to see her map for the close-up. Wasted time and energy. Please make the maps large enough to actually use. Also, please show the name, address, and phone number of each establishment prior to discussing it. The conversational meanderings are nice, but please give the bottom line first. And show a date and prices for at least a few menu items. How about showing menus with a "date of" for info about prices. Thank you.

I will keep this simple. There are good and bad restaurants. The app pays for its self with one good meal. In the palm of your hand you will have the results of a world renound foodie and author. Do not be afraid. Walk through Roma with this app. Dont get hit by a car. CIAO! ps Get a tour with the woman herself. We did !!! ROCKS!

The restaurant suggestions are spot on, but the apps integration with the maps app is poor. There is no way to copy and paste the address you are trying to go to.

A labor of love from a one food lover to all food lovers traveling to Rome. Katie is expert in her knowledge of what great food is all about. She never once lead su to anything but a great meal be it quick bit, cafe, gelato or full course dinner. The information is up to date and the navigation is super helpful. We loved having Katie in our pocket - don’t be lead astray to so-so meals get this app and savor every single delicious bite!

The search function needs to include a search by neighborhood function. Just entering the neighborhood name into the search engine results in search results that are not saved. Email forwarding function goes into a hang and is impossible to get out of without shutting down. But really great info of all kinds on Rome. Never had a bad experience following Katies advice.

It used to be that it was almost impossible to get a bad meal in Italy…sadly, that is no longer the case. We have used Katie Parla’s Rome app for our last two trips to Rome and have been extremely pleased with her suggestions. She is selective in her recommendations so content is not extensive but well curated. If she recommends a well known restaurant that may be in other guide books, there is a very good reason. FYI: reservations in Rome these days are essential, even for more casual places. Some restaurants can be reserved on line, some require a phone call…don’t despair, there is usually someone that speaks English and is very happy to help. I have talked with so many friends on their return from Italy telling me that midwest Italian is better than what they ate in Italy… you will not experience this disappointment if you buy this app.

After a week of eating Italian I was hoping to find nice restaurants near our hotel which was near the Termini Train Station. I used the app and tried the Chinese and the Indian restaurants that Katie suggested. We were very disappointed. Poor service, poor wait staff below our expectations on food. A lot of front desk yelling at each other in the Chinese restaurant which made us feel uncomfortable. The Indian food was just too low for our standards. This app was a waste of my money.

I wish we had found this app sooner so we could have used it on prior trips where we were in Rome for long periods of time. This time around, we were only in Rome for a day and a half and we still managed to refer to this app several times! I used it before our trip to decide which restaurants to go to and during to see what dishes we should order. I also found the map function very helpful. Its the next best thing to having Katie take you Rome (which I would also recommend!)

This app was a game changer for me. I got it before my second trip to Rome and it opened me up to a new world of food. Easy to use and indispensable. I highly recommend it.

Katies app is terrific. Every meal that we had while in Rome this past week was wonderful, and we owe a huge thank you to Katie for her excellent research. If youre the type that plans travels in new cities around food adventures, this is the only app you need for Rome. There are a few others for this city and they simply do not stack up to this one. Bravo and thank you again, Katie.

Our family had Katie as our tour guide, and her app is great. She has a sixth sense for great food and genuine experiences. You cant go wrong here!

I cant rave enough about this App. If you are a foodie, and want to get the most out of your experience in Rome, this is all youll need. As you travel abroad, you learn that Tripadvisor and even Yelp are unreliable when it comes to food and dining. Katie Parla is hip, up to date, and gave fantastic and credible recommendations on the best places to eat in Rome. I have never ate so well in my life. App is slick and easy to use. I downloaded it on my iphone and used it throughout my trip. Has a map with all the best restaurants/cafes/gelato places pinned so easy to find a great place around you where ever you are. Really is all you need, download it today!
